We seek energetic, creative individuals to assist with Costa Rica Theatre Camp 2022, an intensive summer theatre program for teens. Join us in the breathtaking Cloud Forests of Monteverde, Costa Rica as we put on a full production of a musical with a fantastic, diverse group of youth.

We strongly encourage you to select two or more possible positions on your application. (see below for detailed duties & responsibilities) Our staff is a flexible, multidisciplinary team. Interns will be accepted into the program with a specific position, but should expect to take on a variety of responsibilities outside of the traditional tasks association with that position. We expect you to be forthcoming about your strengths as well as willing to help in areas with which you are less familiar.
These are intense, full-time positions. Interns work 8 - 10 hours per day and have one day off per week. You can also find funded volunteer opportunities here. Required Qualifications

Cost of Participation & Financial AidFar Corners Community Musical Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and our program has an extremely limited budget. All international interns must contribute financially; many receive funding from their colleges/universities to cover part or all of the internship fee. We are happy to provide supporting documents needed in the process of applying for funding through your institution or receiving credit for your internship.

Need-based financial aid is available for international interns, covering up to 30-40% of the internship fee. Full scholarships are ONLY available to local Costa Rican interns. The internship fee does not cover round-trip airfare to Costa Rica (Juan Santamaria International Airport, SJO) from your home country. Current roundtrip airfare for these dates from major US airports $400 to $800 for West Coast and $200 to $500 for the East Coast. |
Additional Opportunities
- Spanish Language Study: There is an excellent Spanish-language school in Monteverde offering small-group (one to four students) conversational Spanish classes at levels with Costa Rican teachers. For those doing the full internship, we can arrange for you to take a one-week intensive class (4 hours per day) at an approximate cost of $300. If you are doing the short internship, or if you would like to take additional weeks of class, you can do so before or after the internship dates. The school also offers university credit, or you may be able to obtain credit through your university.
- College Credit: Your university may offer you course credit for your internship with Far Corners Community Musical Theatre. We are happy to assist you with necessary documentation – please inform us as soon as possible about the requirements.
- Travel: Costa Rica is a beautiful, interesting, and inexpensive travel destination frequented by young backpackers from around the world. While you will NOT have time to travel during your internship, we encourage you to travel before or after the program if you are interested. It is easy to travel from Costa Rica by bus to other parts of Central America. We are happy to provide you with tips and “insider” information as you make your plans.
