The Maputo Interschool Arts Workshop

The Maputo Interschool Music & Theatre Workshop is a special weekend-long event hosted by the American International School of Mozambique, bringing together youth from a wide variety of different schools and backgrounds in Maputo, Mozambique.   The youth participants are organized into temporary ensembles, which included representatives from many different schools, who rehearse together throughout the weekend and give a short performance on the last day.

The first workshop was held in May of 2009, and the event was successfully repeated in February of 2010.  The third event was bigger than ever, taking place in September of 2010.  FCCMT hopes to support the continuation of the workshop in Maputo in the years to come, and to use this program as a model that can be replicated in other communities around the world, including in the U.S.  Want to organize an event in your community?  Let us know and we'd love to help out!  Contact [email protected]
