WORKSHOP: MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE
In each workshop, we will devote part of the time to learning the basics of dance through a warm-up and exercises like turning and jumping. We will also learn a fun dance from a musical. During Saturday’s class we will also explore and create our own movements. No dance experience is necessary! Everyone is welcome to dance. Dates, Times & Location: Saturday, October 23, 9am-12pm at Monteverde Friends School Sunday, October 24, 9am-11am at Rio Chante Ages: 10-18 Cost: This workshop will be offered on a sliding scale (pay-what-you-can) basis. You may choose the tuition level that is appropriate for your family: 2000, 5000 or 10 000. This tuition includes both days. Far Corners will also offer two full scholarships to the course for students with significant financial need. |
WEEKLY COURSE: SAMBA DRUMMING
Don't miss this unique opportunity to play traditional Brazilian drums and immerse yourself in the fun and electrifying world of samba. This 8-week beginner’s course is designed for children and teens ages 10-18 and will focus on learning and playing samba drums. The course will be taught by Francisco Marques, a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has been studying, performing and teaching Brazilian music for 20 years. He moved to Monteverde with his family in July and is the music teacher at the Centro de Educación Creativa. SPACES ARE STILL AVAILABLE! SIGN UP NOW! Dates: Every Wednesday, October 6 - December 1 (except October 20) Time: 3:30-5:00pm Ages: 10-18 Location: Cloud Forest School, Greenhouse Cost: This course will be offered on a sliding scale (pay-what-you-can) basis. Full tuition for the 8 week course is 25 000 colones and the minimum tuition is 5000 colones. You may choose the tuition level that is appropriate for your family: 5000, 10 000, 15 000, 20000 or 25 000 per course. IMPROVISATION I
Mondays, August 23 -October 11, except for september 13 (7 weeks) 3:30-5:00pm Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are invented by the participants in the moment. Through fun games, we will explore different techniques to better our quick responses when acting improvisationally. VOICE 2 Mondays, August 23 -October 11 except for september 13 (7 weeks), 5:15-6:15pm Anyone can become a better singer through training and practice. In this course we will explore healthy singing technique for adolescents so that participants can sing more accurately and more expressively. Through vocal exercises and learning new songs, participants will leave with the tools, knowledge and confidence to continue building their vocal skills in the future.
